Any brand bearing press will work as long as the correct size bearing drifts are used. DO NOT HAMMER OUT BEARINGS , as this can lead to a de-bonded hub shell.
-
To skip to bearing installation, proceed to step 4.
-
Begin by removing the axle from the hub by following one of these guides:
-
-
-
-
-
Slide the bearing drift onto the threaded axle of the bearing press tool. Then slide the tool through the disc side of the hub.
-
Place the bearing removal cup on the non-disc side. This cup should be larger in diameter than the outer race of the bearing. Then thread the remaining handle onto the bearing press tool.
-
Make sure the drift and bearing removal cup are centered. Tighten the tool handles to press the axle and the non-disc side bearing and axle reducer out of the hub shell.
-
The axle reducer may still be attached to the bearing. Simply slide the bearing off the reducer.
-
-
-
Insert the axle reducer back into the hub, and then slide the bearing drift onto the threaded axle of the bearing press tool before inserting into the axle reducer.
-
Place the bearing removal cup on the disc side. This cup should be larger in diameter than the bearing.
-
Tighten the tool handles to press the axle and the disc-side bearing out of the hub shell.
-
-
-
To install new bearings, begin by sliding one bearing onto the axle reducer.
-
Insert the axle reducer into the non-disc side of the hub shell.
-
Slide the appropriate size bearing drifts and spacers onto the axle rod before inserting into the axle reducer.
-
Be sure to center drifts to avoid damage to the bearing.
-
Center the drive-side bearing in the hub shell. Slide the appropriate bearing drift and spacers onto the axle rod and thread through the hub shell.
-
Tighten the tool to press both bearings in, capturing the axle reducer between the bearings.
